End of the Year Projects

As the first year comes to a close in a few short weeks, the students are working with great focus to bring their school clocks and school watches to completion.  These two projects encompass all relevant tool and component making proficiencies taught in the first year.
The work style at that point of the curriculum is relatively autonomous, consisting predominantly in applying what was learned in small steps under meticulous supervision if the teacher in the earlier parts of the program.

The images show turning operations on a watchmakers lathe, centering operations on the bridges for the school watch, both optically and by use of a wobble stick, as well as detail finishing operations of the clock plates.
